Import Cleared File
Importing a cleared file is a fast way to clear checks within a bank reconciliation cycle, especially if many checks are written monthly. If you would like to clear checks this way, check with your bank to see if they offer a cleared file.
Steps to Import a Cleared File:
- Select the import type: Excel/CSV vs. Fixed. Verify the import type with your bank. If there is a heading line, check the box.
- Col for Check # - Enter the field position number for the check number. If the check number is in column A, for instance enter 1; Column B, enter 2, etc.
- Col for Amount - Enter the field position number for the check amount.
- Assumed Decimals - If the import file did not have any decimals in the amount field, you would use the assumed decimals option (i.e., if the CSV file assumed 2 decimals, then the amount 44.12 would be in the file as 4412). If it has decimals in the file, leave them as 0.
- Col for Clear Date - if importing a cleared date, the date must be in the MM/DD/YYYY format and be within the current reconciling cycle date range. If left blank, the date will be the last date of the cycle.
- Click OK at the bottom of the screen and choose the file to be imported.
