Investor Interface
Overview
If your company owns part of the property, you can direct the company's share to the appropriate accounts in the proper books instead of allowing it to remain in accounts receivable. You can similarly set up affiliate entries and send them to another set of books. We recommend that each Journal Number be unique for easier audit trails.
NOTE: If your company was set up using the QuickStart feature, and you answered one of the questions, so the Oil & Gas template was used, the Investor Interface for your company was automatically created for you. The information below is if you would like to create another Investor Interface or if one was not automatically created for your company.
This function creates another set of entries when the Rev/Bill Cycle is posted to account for an individual owner’s share of billing or revenue. The grid below will show Export Options from the Investor Interface Maintenance screen so that you can easily see how each investor is set up.
Add - To add a new investor. When adding a new investor, you will have an option to copy from an existing investor.
Chg - Click the button or double-click on the row for that investor to edit a current investor.
Del - To delete the selected row. This will delete the entire setup.
1st, Prior, Next, End - To navigate within the grid.
Extract - This will retroactively extract G/L entries for previously paid and/or billed amounts for selected owners. It will extract all entries even if they already exist. Please use caution, as you could possibly create duplicate entries. Also, see Manual Extract.
Util:
- Import from another company - gives you the ability to import Investor Interface setup from another company.
- Upload WolfeNet - the ability to select a cycle or range of cycles to export through WolfeNet.
-
Export Budget to Investor Company: This utility allows for budgets to be created for the investor percentage using the coding on the investor interface. The budget calculations will be output to an XLS file to be imported into the investor company. This is a very customized process.
General Steps:- Select the Export Budget to Investor Company option.
- Fill in the next screen with the correct Sub-Account. If you wish to see the Excel format of what is being loaded, select the Output Budget Calc to XLS option.
- Select OK. This will facilitate the calculations and update the budget for the investor company. Pak Accounting knows where to put the entries because of the investor interface setup for that owner.
- The budget in the investor company will be populated based on the DOI (Division of Interest) percentage.
NOTES:
- The entry's reference numbers are automatically generated in the General Ledger. See the next number assignment. Additionally, changes made to the investor interface will be recorded in the Change Log.
- When running a cycle and creating prepayment entries for the investor, the entries will net together with the other billing offset entries when recording the Pre-payment amount(s). This will enable the entries created in the cycle to be similar to manually extracted entries.
List- The list details exactly how each investor is set up and can be filtered by Export Type.
For example, clicking on Chg or double-clicking on Owner line 1200-LEARN will allow you to see the setup.
Setup
General Setup
Click Add to add a new investor or double click on the row for that investor to edit a current investor.
Enter in the Owner/Investor A/R Account and Sub-Account, which is on the DOI. Tabbing out of the Sub-Account field, you will be asked if you want to copy the setup from another existing user. Select the range of Properties if needed.
Check an option in the G/L Entries section.
Owner/Investor: Acct/Sub-Account |
Set up for the Rev/Bill company that owns an interest. Also set up for any affiliate owner you wish to send the Rev/Bill entries to affiliates' books. This will be the Owner Code that is listed on the DOI. NOTE: if an owner has more than one A/R account, enter in *ALLW. This option will make entries as defined for all working interest with the A/R account defined. |
Properties from/thru | Defines the range of properties you will create entries for. Normally use default range of blank thru ZZZZZZ. |
Investors Company number | The company code for this owner's books. |
Automatically create G/L entries or Export file |
No entries = the system will only create entries when the manual Extract option is selected. Create, but don’t Post = entries will go to General Ledger > #10, entries during the Revenue/Billing cycle update. Create and Post = entries will auto post when Revenue/Billing cycle is posted. |
Export Options |
WolfePak Investor G/L - creates entries to the designated company. CDEX file Group 1,2,3 - creates CDEX files that can be grouped in one of 3 different files (CDEX file is located under GLN32\ccccc\PRT\RevBill). This option supports PRD (Product). So, all owners marked as Group 1 would pull into 1 file, all owners marked as Group 2 would pull into a different file, and all owners marked as Group 3 would pull into yet another file. EnergyLink file: By selecting the EnergyLink File option, files will be created and put into the PRT/RevBill folder (the location will be indicated on the screen). The CSV file for billing and the XML file for revenue entries will be for all Sub-Accounts or per the Sub-Account field range, if setup. These files must be manually uploaded to the EnergyLink website unless the Auto Upload Add-on feature is setup in Utilities under Global System Options on the Global tab. NOTES:
(Additional Add-on) Pak Accounting has the ability to automatically transmit the revenue and billing detail to EnergyLink. To turn this on after purchase, go to Utilities > Global > System Options > Global tab. Check the box to Automatically transmit Revenue/Billing detail to EnergyLink. WolfePak Rev/Bill - designed to send entries to another Pak Accounting set of books where the entries will be billed and disbursed (uses the same billing and revenue accounts as operating company). NOTE: if you have AFE numbers currently, they will also be sent to all other books. Additionally, this option allows for you to add a prefix to a lease number in order to redirect entries to a different lease code. WolfeNet Checkstub - This option will create a CDEX type output file by owner that can be downloaded through WolfeNet. If this option is chosen, the Investor's Company (CDEX Purchaser Code) will have to be entered. This option supports PRD (Product). WolfeNet - Ability to send revenue/billing entries to another Pak Accounting user. See WolfeNet for more information. Full Revenue - creates an export in an Excel format that can be uploaded to Open Invoice (Oildex). This option includes the detail records for taxes and other deductions where the cdex option rolls all deducts into one amount and all taxes into one amount on the file. |
Use Eff Date: Clearing Account/Sub-Acct | Optional add-on. This option retains the effective date of the original billing entries. |
Add Prefix to Lease # | This field will only show if the Export Options: WolfePak Investor G/L or WolfePak Rev/Bill are selected. |
Add - to add a new investor. When adding a new investor you will have an option to copy from an existing investor.
Chg - click button or double click on the row for that investor to edit a current investor.

When the utility option is selected, a copy to tab will display with a list of all the existing investors that are setup with the same Export option. Select one or more investors to copy to, then press the copy button.
